The Ladyholme Centre.
Where
Windermere.
Who
We are charity trustees for the Ladyholme Centre.
Why
We would like to see the centre remain as part of the local community, increase the use and upgrade the facility so it is more efficient, sustainable and pleasant to use.
What are you most proud of?
What are you most proud of: Over the last twelve months we have increased the bookings and doubled the income. Giving us some security to carry on and start to upgrade the facilities. We have been able to have the main hall floor repaired so that badminton and dancing can continue. We have had a Buildings and Energy Survey that has helped us understand what the building requires to make it more sustainable and that has helped us plan work. We have painted and improved one of the smaller meeting rooms and undertaken work to improve the toilet facilities.
We have used social media to tell people about the hall.
How did you get people involved?
We engaged with user groups and talked to people including ACT. One of the younger trustees started sharing information through FB which raised our profile.
What difference did the project make?
We have doubled the takings at the hall and we have new trustees with fresh enthusiasm and skills.
What do you wish you had known at the start?
That we could get good help from ACT. That we understood the filing system.
What do you hope for the future of your project?
That we can make significant improvements which mean people can use and enjoy the facilities for many years to come.
