Warm and Welcome spaces in rural Copeland this winter

In response to the cost of living crisis, ACT is working with the Copeland Community Fund to support Village Halls and other community buildings to develop ‘Warm and Welcome’ spaces.
Could you to run a regular session at the hall where people from the community can come together for some food - a meal or a snack, to chat, share time together and be in a warm space for a while?
A warm and welcome space can make a huge difference to people who are struggling to cover their heating costs, but of course it also builds community connectivity and wellbeing.
Statistics show there is real need in Copeland due to fuel poverty, across the whole area. 24% of the Copeland population live in ‘off gas’ homes, relying on solid fuel and oil deliveries. Prices for oil have risen even higher than other fuels because it’s a non-price capped fuel.
ACT can support you with models of how to set up the session - if needed, and with small awards to cover costs such as the publicity and initial running costs for a session. There could also be longer term support for your heating and running costs.
