Description of Hall and village: Long Marton Institute was opened in 1894 as a Hall, Reading Room and Leisure Room. It served the growing village of Long Marton, situated 3 miles from Appleby on the road to Milburn. The Hall has an active committee intent on modernising it for fuller use.
