Description of Hall and village: Alston is a remote rural village 20 miles from Penrith, 25 miles from Hexham. The Town Hall was renovated about 15 years ago and now houses the Library, and Tourist Information Centre known as Local Links (since 2008). The Hall also houses the local office of Cumbria County Council Neighbourhood Development. The annex is used by Alston Playschool, and the main Hall is a good venue with stage, P.A., lights, new floor and adjoining kitchen.
