Built in 1891 of the local red sandstone, the hall replaced the village 'reading room' which had existed elsewhere at the start of the 19th Century. The Village Hall came about because of a generous donation of land and energetic local fundraising. Some modern facilities were added in the 1960's when the Hall had been registered as a charity.
