It was extended in 1953 to add additional meeting room, kichen, toilets and cloackrooms. It has been recently modernised with double glazing and accessible toilet. Scotby is a village 3 miles east of Carlisle between Junctions 42 and 43 of the M6 motorway, just one mile from the latter. The village also has a Post Office/shop, public house and a hairdressing salon and is on the 75 bus route.
