On Thursday 14th August, Cumbria hosted Brooks Newmark MP – the new Minister for Civil Society. The Minister visited Cumbria CVS, Eden Credit Save- Credit Union and ACTion with communities in Cumbria.
ACT brought together representatives of the Barton Community Plan Group, Parkin Memorial Hall, Northern Fells Project and Burton Community Car Scheme at the Parkin Memorial Hall Pooley Bridge to discuss the challenges and opportunities for community participation and volunteering in Cumbria.
As heavy rain causes flash flooding for many communities, particularly in South East England and mid Wales, you may be wondering how your community could be better prepared for such an event.
ACTion with Communities in Cumbria (ACT) is supporting communities in Eden to be better prepared for potential emergencies, such as flash flooding and other extreme weather events, by producing Community Emergency Plans.
