ACTion with Communities in Cumbria is the operating name for Voluntary Action Cumbria (VAC), help us to continue to support communities across Cumbria by becoming a Supporter or Member.

Become a Supporter

To make use of our services we ask that you sign up as a Supporter of the organisation, allowing us to inform and involve you in relevant campaigns and projects. Supporters pay no fee and do not have voting rights. As an ACT / VAC Supporter you will receive:

  • ACT Gazette and Case Study alerts emailed direct to you
  • Invitations to events including a Supporters Gathering once a year
  • Opportunities to be involved in campaigns and issues of importance to community and rural issues
  • A free 'I'm Supporting ACT' window sticker

Become a Member

We welcome members from across Cumbria; you can become a member as an: Individual; Third Sector / Voluntary Sector Organisation; or Business / Statutory Body. As an ACT / VAC Member you will receive:

  • All the benefits of being an ACT / VAC Supporter
  • Voting rights at the AGM and members' meetings to directly affect our work
  • Invitations to members' meetings twice a year
  • 20% discount on any chargeable services and events

ACT Membership Rates 2014 - 2015 (Membership runs from 1 April to 31 March):

  • Individual: £30.00
  • Third Sector / Voluntary Organisation: £50.00
  • Business / Statutory Body: £75.00

As a registered charity that has been functioning for almost 70 years, we need trustee board members who can use their local knowledge and understanding to think strategically about how best to support rural communities to thrive.

Our two new ACT Board members come from very different backgrounds and bring a diverse range of skillsets and expertise to the table.

Big Lottery Fund pledges £1 million support to help Cumbrian communities become more resilient in the wake of the December floods

The Big Lottery Fund has today announced a £1 million package to help Cumbrian communities become more resilient. This comes in the wake of December’s devastating floods, and will help local people, communities and organisations to prepare for similar events in the future.

The ‘Rebuilding Together’ programme will take place over the next 3 years, led by Cumbria CVS and delivered in partnership with Cumbria Action for Sustainability (CAfS) and Action with Communities in Cumbria (ACT) – three local charities with a long history of working together to support Cumbrian communities and organisations.
